“On July 9, Boston Legacy FC forward Fauzia Najjemba suffered a rupture of her right rectus femoris tendon during a team training session. Najjemba will be re-evaluated biweekly by Dr Kelly McInnis of Massachusetts General Brigham during her rehabilitation,” the club said.

“Najjemba will be placed on the Season-Ending Injury List and is expected to make a full recovery.”

Boston Legacy FC expressed confidence that the Ugandan international would recover fully despite missing the remainder of the season.

Najjemba joined Boston Legacy FC in January after signing a two-year contract with the NWSL expansion side, with an option for an additional year.

The move marked a major milestone in the career of one of Uganda’s most highly rated women’s football players.

Before her move to the United States, Najjemba played for Kampala Queens FC and developed her talent at Isra Soccer Academy, where she emerged as one of the country’s most promising attackers.

She has also become a key player for the Uganda women’s national team, the Crested Cranes, earning praise for her pace, finishing ability and versatility in attack.

While the injury has brought an early end to her first NWSL season, the positive recovery outlook offers hope that Najjemba will return to competitive football after completing rehabilitation.

Her absence will be a setback for both Boston Legacy and the Crested Cranes, but the club’s assurance of a full recovery provides optimism that the forward will return stronger.
